Madeleine and Tara runners up at Businesswoman of the Year Awards

Madeleine Murray and Tara Shine both announced as runners up at this year's IMAGE PwC Businesswoman of the Year Awards

Our chief product officer, Madeleine Murray, and digital learning manager, Sarah Buckley, headed along to the IMAGE PwC Businesswoman of the Year Awards 2024.

Now into its 16th year, this annual event is a celebration of Ireland’s most inspiring businesswomen and sees women awarded and recognised from across multiple sectors and industries. This year the awards showcased an impressive generational spread, with young female entrepreneurs being recognised alongside experienced business leaders.

From a large number of applications, Dr Tara Shine and Madeleine Murray were shortlisted for CEO of the Year and Sustainability Champion of the Year respectively, with both of them being awarded runners up in their categories. Tara was joint runner up with Fiona Gallagher, CEO of Wells Fargo Bank International, to eventual winner Fiona Matthews, managing director at Applegreen. Madeleine was joint runner up with Patricia Kane – founder of reuzi and partner and sustainability chief officer at Pragmatica – to category winner Dr Val Cummins, chief impact officer and Simply Blue Group.

The overriding feelings from attendees in the room were of support, empathy and kindness with the Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Anne Heraty, who embodies all that is wonderful in a female leader. As Mary Robinson said in one of our recent Climate Club webinars about Sustainability Leadership: “I think the world could learn a lot from the women’s movement, from women’s networks, from the way women collaborate and work together.”

Congratulation to both Tara and Madeleine for their deserving runner-up positions and to all the nominees, runners up and winners.
